I did the typical High School thing of applying to schools during my senior year. Thing is, I only applied to three. Two rejected me outright, and one never responded. Now, whether this is because I didn’t really work at the application (probably), or because I wasn’t qualified for the schools I applied to (Yale, Columbia, University of Maryland), a possibility for the first two, an oddity for the second, or whether it was because of simple dumb luck I’ll never know. Well, I did hear back from Maryland - a year later they tell me that because of a mix-up with my two last names, my SAT scores and transcript were lost, and so my application was never listed as complete.
Long story short, not having any prospects after graduating was at first bizarre, and then worrisome, and then exhilarating. I considered the whole gamut of options, from the Peace Corps., to working, to relaxing, to, finally, traveling. The latter was my choice, and excited I am to have made it. This blog, inspired by my dad, is an attempt to retell my experiences in order to inspire others to do what I did.
In addition, and in light of the new year, new administration, I’ve now decided to go beyond my original purpose. This blog will offer up commentary and input on world events as they pertain to travel. I plan to offer travel commentary and advice as best I can, when I can.
We’ll see what happens.
I think you should keep this current. Like daily? Somehow?
